As human beings, we are considered the most intelligent creatures on the planet.
From my earlier two blogs — The Power of Choice and The Value of Time — we already know two important truths:
1. We must carefully choose the paths we want to walk and the ones we don’t.
2. We have just 10–12 truly productive years in our lives.
Now, in the final post of this three-part series, lets discuss the importance of ‘elimination’, which completes the whole process.
The Gift of Letting Go
Elimination is not about loss — it’s about creating space. And space is where growth, creativity, and new opportunities are born.
When you remove the unnecessary, the essential becomes visible.
When you release what’s weighing you down, you can move faster and with greater clarity.

• Elimination of non-productive thoughts.
• Elimination of activities that consume more time and energy than they deserve.
• Elimination of methods and processes that have become redundant.
Why Elimination is Hard
We humans are wired to hold on — to possessions, to people, to routines. Sometimes it’s comfort, sometimes it’s fear, and often it’s the hope that things will somehow improve.
But what we don’t realize is that holding on to the wrong things costs us the right ones — and also the opportunities we miss in the process.
• A failing process in business eats away resources that could be better invested.
• An outdated belief blinds you to new opportunities.
• A loveless relationship drains the energy you could use to nurture healthier bonds.
How to Practice Elimination
1. Identify – Make a list of everything that occupies your time, mind, and energy — tasks, people, commitments, habits.
2. Evaluate – Ask yourself: Does this take me closer to my purpose, or further away?
3. Decide – If it doesn’t serve your growth or happiness, it’s a candidate for elimination.
4. Act – Remove, delegate, or replace it. Be decisive, but also compassionate — both to yourself and others.
5. Review – Life changes, so review regularly. What served you last year might be redundant today.

My Mantra
When in doubt, take a pause, slow down, and see what needs to be eliminated from your life.
Because the fewer things that waste your time and energy, the more you can give to what truly matters. It’s important to make space in your life for the new things, the new adventures and the new excitements.
Closing Thought
And if these thoughts resonate, I’d love to hear from you — what’s one thing you’ve recently eliminated from your life that created space for growth?
I also encourage you to revisit the first two blogs in this series:
- The Journey of Life – The Value of Time
- The Journey of Life – The Power of Choice
Together, they form a simple but powerful life strategy: Choose wisely. Value your time. Eliminate the rest.
